Parent information sessions

CliniKids runs a range of information sessions for parents and caregivers.

We are dedicated to building capacity within families and providing families with the information, support and tools they need to help them achieve their goals.

To that end, CliniKids offers a range of FREE information sessions for parents and caregivers.

Tuesday 25 March, 11am-12pm (AWST) Let's Play! Priscilla Cornelius, Speech Pathologist Learn about play, why it’s important, how it develops, and what it can look like for young autistic children. Understand how you can support your child’s play development in a neuro-affirming manner, that allows them to be their unique self. Wednesday 14 May, 10.30am – 11.30am (AWST) Mealtimes Marisa DiLorenzo, Senior Speech Pathologist Learn about your own mealtime preferences and about the autistic mealtime experience. Learn strategies to support positive mealtimes in school settings and when to involve other professionals to support mealtimes. Download the flyer
Wednesday 2 July, 11am – 12.30pm (AWST) Gesture Matters Gracen Murphy, Speech Pathologist Explores the fundamentals of communication essential to supporting communication with young autistic children. Download the flyer
Monday 4 August, 12.30pm – 1.30pm (AWST) Anxiety Dr. Mei’en Lim, Lead Clinical Psychologist  Explores anxiety in young autistic children, what anxiety is, how it differs from typical worries, and the impact of thoughts on the brain. It also provides practical strategies for managing anxiety (using case studies) to support children in various aspects of their lives. Download the flyer
Thursday 16 October, 1pm – 2pm (AWST)  Relationships & Feelings Olivia Rowland, Registrar Clinical Psychologist  Looks at the development of healthy relationships in young autistic children, focusing on attachment styles, the impact of trauma on behaviour, and brain development. It provides practical strategies for emotional regulation for both parents and children. It also highlights the importance of what being a safe person means. Download the flyer
