Cognitive assessments

A cognitive assessment is a valuable tool to better understand how a child thinks, learns, and processes information.

CliniKids will be offering cognitive assessments as a new service to support families from July 1, 2025.

What is a cognitive assessment?

A cognitive assessment is a valuable tool to better understand how a child thinks, learns, and processes information. It looks at areas such as:

  • Thinking and reasoning
  • Language and communication
  • Memory
  • Problem-solving
  • Attention and focus

These assessments can help identify learning difficulties, cognitive strengths, or areas where a child may need extra support. They can also help determine if a child meets criteria for an intellectual disability or giftedness.

Why choose CliniKids?

At CliniKids, cognitive assessments are available for children aged 6 to 9 years, who are at a conversational level of communication. These assessments may be helpful when:

  • A school is unable to provide an assessment due to long waitlists
  • Families are receiving mixed messages about their child’s progress
  • There are questions about a child’s general learning capabilities

How do I register interest?
