The CliniKids research team had a busy few days at the annual International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) conference held in Melbourne recently.

CliniKids research team at INSAR conference.The CliniKids research team had a busy few days at the annual International Society for Autism Research (INSAR) conference held in Melbourne recently. Here’s a summary:

  • Aarti was an invited speaker for the Cultural Diversity Committee, discussing our team’s work in yarning with Aboriginal communities in WA. This was the first time consultation with Aboriginal Australian communities about early development has been discussed at INSAR.
  • Gail organised a panel about anxiety therapies for young autistic children, where PhD candidate Claudia delivered a talk on the results from a clinical trial of a parent group program targeting anxiety concerns (CUES-Junior).
  • David was invited to deliver a panel on complex communication needs across the lifespan.
  • Sarah, Gail and David presented a variety of posters, including outcomes from a trial of CO-OP therapy, caregiver’s perspectives of uncertainty in young autistic children, autism and ADHD portrayals on Tik Tok, and the National Guideline for Assessment and Diagnosis of Autism in Australia.
  • Andrew was inducted as an INSAR Fellow.
