Professor Andrew Whitehouse was recently inducted as a Fellow to the International Society for Autism Research, making him just the fourth Australian to be bestowed the honour.
Professor Whitehouse was elected for his major scientific advances and advocacy efforts, including leading the development of the first Australian guidelines for diagnosing autism and supporting autistic children.
In addition, Professor Whitehouse was one of four The Kids Research Institute Australia researchers to receive a prestigious Investigator Grant from the National Health and Medical Research Council.
He has been awarded $2.9 million to continue developing effective, efficient and scalable clinical pathways for autistic children.
Supported by the Investigator Grant, Professor Whitehouse and the CliniKids team will seek to fill ongoing evidence gaps in care by trialling and implementing effective interventions in the early childhood years; developing new methods for neurodevelopmental assessment and discovering evidence-based personalised pathways that maximise clinical outcomes.
