Strengths wall

For Autism Month, CliniKids invited families to contribute to an "I can, I am!" strengths wall in its reception area – an idea that was wholeheartedly embraced by our little visitors and their families.

Contributions included drawings, Polaroid photos and a pic collage, all combining to create a colourful addition to the reception desk.

"Our kids and families bring us all so much joy and we wanted an opportunity to share that more widely," Clinical Services Manager Katia Haines said.

"Every child deserves to be seen as an individual with unique strengths and gifts to share with the world and the strengths wall gave us a small but important opportunity to do this."

Katia said the feedback from families was that the strengths wall gave them the chance to reflect on what made their child unique, and how their child's special interests and strengths had brought joy to their families.

"Walking into the clinic to see a wall of beaming faces and expressive artwork has given families an opportunity to pause and celebrate how our kids make the world a better place," she said.
