Does my child need an autism diagnosis for me to participate in CUES?
Yes. Our CUES parent coaching program is offered only to parents of children with an autism diagnosis. We are unable to offer this program to parents of children with developmental delays or intellectual disability only (unless these are co-occurring with an autism diagnosis).
What age does my child need to be for me to participate in CUES?
Our CUES parent coaching program is designed for parents and caregivers of autistic kids aged 4-9.
Is CUES a group program?
The CUES program for parents of autistic kids is offered via both group format, in small groups of 3-8 parents facilitated by a CliniKids clinical psychologist; or as one-on-one sessions with a CliniKids clinical psychologist.
What is the time commitment for the CUES program?
The time commitment for the CUES parent coaching program at CliniKids is eight weekly sessions, with each session lasting two hours.
Is CUES suitable for our family?

The child’s anxiety must be driven by uncertainty (i.e. distress due to not knowing what will happen), as opposed to other anxieties, like fear of specific things (e.g. loud noises, separation). This program is not designed for generalised anxiety.
Is CUES in-person or online?
You can book your CUES parent coaching sessions to take place either in person at our CliniKids clinics in either Subiaco or Joondalup, or online via telehealth. You can see our upcoming group program dates above.
Is CUES evidence-based?
Yes, the CUES program is evidence-based and backed by research. It was developed by researchers at Newcastle University in collaboration with parents, as a parent-based group intervention.
